Leaving a local restaurant or business after receiving exceptionally good or bad service can inspire you to write a review about your experience. If all the reviews are public, it's difficult for someone to write a false review or slander a company for no reason.
Also, don't write a bad review while you're at the restaurant instead of talking to the manager about a problem that may have arisen, whether it's a rude waiter or a cockroach. There's even the possibility of becoming what's called a local guide, and you can earn points for every review you leave to increase your level and visibility on review pages. In addition to being against the terms of service of most review sites, accepting free food in exchange for leaving a good review and not disclosing it is actually a violation of Federal Trade Commission guidelines. The review software allows you to request feedback from the customer immediately after they have interacted with you.
You'll receive the request the moment you're most likely to leave your feedback. So, your review won't reflect the typical experience someone might expect to have at that restaurant, which goes against the purpose of writing a review in the first place.
